The boat is currantly located in Port Douglas and was being raced by Mal from SailStructures Port Douglas until the new Nacra 36C was launched in June this year. Mal will assist with delivery and details can be see here.
The 36C did have the top of the mast washed in the recent "Australian Multihull Championships" in Brisbane. A rudder box failure in strong winds with the screecher up and while doing 22 knots resulted in a rapid roundup and capsize. Other than getting a little wet the crew and boat came out undamaged. Nacra Infusion wins Pulbah Marathon NSW.-
Billy and Dean Nisson "Bringing it home"
Pulbah Island Marathon - NSW
Last Saturday it was 41oC and blew over 25kts from the NW and an intense day of sailing was had by all. Several skippers from the local fleet came down to have a look but declined from racing, deciding discretion was the better part of valour. Eleven F18s were brave/stupid enough to enter the event for a bit of rip roaring, mast snapping fun. After multiple capsize, breakages and general mayhem only three boats actually finished the marathon. Billy and Dean Nissen where victorious completing the race in just under two hours. They only had two capsizes and broke main sail battens and dented their mast. Thirteen minutes and a couple of swims later, Brett White and his guest crew sailed home on their new Wild Cat appropriately named the Feral Cat. Chris Caldercoat finished third on his Capricorn.
Speers Point Amateur sailing Club did a wonderful job hosting the event and kept everyone safe. The rescue boats had many customers and there was quite an inventory damage with two boats breaking spreaders. Thank you to Brianna White for the fabulous photo. ps thats Deano upright in the background (black kite).

Nacra Infusion Mk 11:- News release from Nacra: Although the F18 Infusion is still the boat to beat we are launching a Mark II model of the Infusion. Together with the original designers Morelli Melvin and the International Nacra sailing team Nacra had decided to go for it! Here is a list of changes on the Infusion. This year during the worlds of F18 it showed again that Nacra is very competitive and almost had won the worlds until the last race was sailed. To make sure we stay there we need to stay one step ahead!!
· Nacra Sailing “Team Boards” = Faster + higher upwind performance, easier all over
· New designed monolithic dagger board cases = Stiffer & Stronger like F20 carbon
· Pro-grip deck lay out like F20 Carbon = Soft & comfortable + safe ( good grip)
· Improved general Construction = even improved torsion stiffness
· Added sail color main + jib= Smoke/White/Blue
· Updated race package = Cunningham jib, new line-pack, rudder& dagger board bags
· Updated sail shape = quicker main/jib combination + spinnaker
· Integrated up f**ker = to pull up port dagger board in racing
· No further changes are made to the hulls = still unbeaten hull shape
The Infusion MK II is available from the 1st of January 2011. Existing Infusions will be able to upgrade to the Mk 11 with an upgrade kit to made available, ensuring your boat doesnt go out of date like some other brands.

Sep 2010
Welcome to Koombana Bay Sailing Club:-
The coming 2010 sailing season took a turn for the worst, even before its started. The Western Australian Department of Transport recently inposed a blanket 8 knot speed limit on the entire bay. For the off the beach and division IV classes this effects their entire course. This has been done to protect craft from debris falling from the City of Bunbury owned "Historic Jetty".
Controling factions in the the club appears to be taking a "well it doesnt affect us, so if we do nothing it will go away". Well it does effect us. While they are worried about upsetting the local and state authorites for fear it will influence there "Marina" proposal outcome. It appears they are prepared to effectively shut down sailing in Bunbury except for a handful of leadmine shit boxes that are not capable of doing 8 knots. Is this the end of off the beach catamaran, dinghy and junior sailing in Bunbury or will common sense prevail? See large photo of effected area.
All water ski areas have also been shut down, so it appears many of our local dollars will be moving to Busselton, where historic jettys and water craft can both coexist.
The Beavis and Butthead show continues to roll along at KBSC. With Beavis happy to see Cats banished from the bay, while butthead is quoted as "The cats dont have to go faster than 8 knots while racing". It would be funny in a cartoon, but for the Cat sailors in Bunbury this is not a cartoon its the familar, "its only a catamaran, its not real sailing attitude". With opening day this weekend it should be a fun place to be around.

Whats a 2nd hand boat worth:- Buying a 2nd hand boat you want it to be cheap, when selling the same boat you want to get back what you paid for it! So who's right. Short answer neither are. It's worth what the market is prepared to pay, but its not going to increase in value the longer you hold onto it or the more that you spend on it. So why is it that people want to own a boat, sail it for a couple of years and expect to get back every cent that they ever put into it. You expect your car to reduce in value every time you use it or as each year goes by, so why not your boat. Read more here:

Insurance:- Necessary Evil:- I recently had the misfortune to have a substantial claim on my marine insurance policy. Goose Marine now taking orders for the new Nacra 430 "Clubman", "Sports" and "Rocket": Available from under $10,000. This little rocket ship is now in full production and will be available in 3 versions. The 430 Clubman as a fun boat with main only. The 430 Sports as a club racer with main and jib. The 430 Rocket with main, jib and spinnaker for those chasing big boat performance at a budget price. See the flyers: page 1 and page 2.
Quote from new owner (5th May 2010): Just had our May Day regatta at Tinaroo Sailing Club, Warren from Briscat showed what the 430 is capable of with a decent sailor at the helm, not some softie like me who retires with muscle strain. He was playing with the larger cats (hobie 16, 16SQ) and consistently beating the hobie 16s.
Absolute top boat in big winds, seems the stronger the better.

A Blast from the Past: With Nacra 16 Square's returning to Bunbury recently to form part of the new 16 square fleet racing in W.A. it sent me searching thru the archives. I managed to find this nice shot of Nacra racing in its hayday in Bunbury (KBSC) taken around 1991. The good news is Nacra is once again dominating the numbers at KBSC with 8 boats now based back at the club.

With three infusions sailing only days after arriving in Australia, Don Dull managed a 2nd at the event. The other two sailed by Warren Guinea and Andrew Holden showed that once the bugs are ironed out these boat's will be a force on the F18 scene.

Nacra 36R, the latest boat out of the “Nacra” stable:
Brisbane Catamaran Centre has rebuilt the Roland 36, to produce the latest Nacra.
Not only does the new boat look good, a late report from the owner of the first boat delivered is that he has cracked 30 knots on the inbuilt speedo. A remarkable effort given that this is the “Resort” version built to survey, reduced rig, main sail only and a lot of safety equipment.
